Feet on the Street is a time of serving our friends in a unique way while also providing them with new shoes—something that is not easy to get if you live on the streets or in a shelter. These events are meant to connect volunteers and those experiencing homelessness by allowing them to wash each other’s feet like Jesus did with his disciples. It’s so humbling and personal—to wash someone’s feet and to let your feet be washed. But we have found that those moments of feeling uncomfortable or being intimidated turn into moments of connection and grace. Luke’s Locker has come alongside us as a partner and generously provides hundreds of brand-new, top-of-the-line shoes each year that we pass along to every person who gets their feet washed.
